Dr Jennifer Harris is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She sees patients from early childhood to 17 years, for assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing therapy, and additionally works with parents and carers to improve the quality of family relationships.
Jennifer has worked at several major Sydney Hospitals including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Concord and Liverpool Hospitals, Rivendell Child, Adolescent and Family Service, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, and the Sydney Children’s Hospital. She obtained her specialist qualifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2012 from the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She has taught at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and has been a conjoint lecturer at the UNSW School of Women’s and Children’s Health.
Jennifer uses a variety of approaches to provide a comprehensive assessment of children, adolescents and their families. These include attachment and family systems theory, psychodynamic principles, and the Circle of Security model of parent-child relationships. She tailors treatment to the individual child and takes into account the multiple factors which make every family unique. Management includes invidual therapy, support from allied health clinicians, parenting skills training, and, when needed, medication.
Jennifer has additional interests in neurodiversity, and support for gifted and talented students.
