Dr Jennifer Harris is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She sees patients from 0 to 17 years old, and she works with parents and carers to improve the quality of family relationships.
During her 12 years of medical and psychiatry training Jennifer has worked as a doctor and registrar (psychiatrist-in-training) in several major Sydney hospitals including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Concord and Liverpool Hospitals and the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Since obtaining her specialist qualifications in 2012, Jennifer has worked as a consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Prince of Wales Hospital, the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Rivendell Child Adolescent and Family Service at Concord, and at St Vincent’s Private Hospital (Uspace). She has taught at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and has been a conjoint lecturer at the UNSW School of Women’s and Children’s Health.
Jennifer uses a variety of approaches to provide a comprehensive assessment of children, adolescents, and their families. These include attachment and family systems theory, psychodynamic principles, and the Circle of Security model of parent-child relationships. She tailors treatment to the individual child and takes into account the multiple factors which make every family unique. Management includes individual therapy, support from allied health clinicians, parenting skills training, and, when needed, medication.
Jennifer also works in private practice at Red Tree Practice in Surry Hills where she sees older adolescents and young adults.
