Dr Philippa Levy is a Consultant Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist. She completed an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of NSW and then studied medicine at the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, having completed her general psychiatry training in South East Sydney, working at St Vincent’s Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital and other hospitals.
Philippa completed her Masters of Psychiatry through the Institute of Psychiatry. She spent time overseas working as a Fellow at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York, in the Children’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, and studied at the New York Child Study Centre. Philippa then returned to Sydney and completed her advanced training certificate in Child and Adolescent and Family Psychiatry.
Philippa currently works as a Staff Specialist in South East Sydney local health district. She is the medical lead of an in-reach service for at-risk youth within headspace centres, as part of a multidisciplinary team. Philippa is a conjoint lecturer with the University of NSW. Philippa has also worked as a Staff Specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, in the inpatient setting.
Philippa has experience working with the treatment of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues. She has a broad range of interests and is passionate about providing holistic, individualised and comprehensive care to young people and their families. She enjoys collaborating with other health care providers, schools and agencies where necessary. She uses a wide range of psychotherapeutic approaches, which can include either brief or longer term therapy with individuals and their families, as well as medication, if appropriate and required.
