Young adulthood can be a time of new challenges as young people embark on the first stages of their adult life. It is a time of growth and transition into greater independence which comes with new opportunities and responsibilities.
Some young adults can struggle with the demands of this life stage, leading to the emergence of problems such as depression or anxiety disorders. Other young adults may have difficulties that have persisted from adolescence and need ongoing treatment to move forward and thrive in adult life. There can also be conditions such as Autism or ADHD which may not have been assessed during their school years which present themselves later in life.
At Little Tree Practice our clinicians are able to assess and help young adult patients adjust to the unique challenges of this life stage. Therapy can focus on building an understanding of childhood experiences, family and peer relationships, as well as current challenges and how to manage them independently and with support. Types of therapy available include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and supportive psychotherapy.
Becca Roberts our Mental Health Occupational Therapist is able to provide support for ADHD, living skills assessments and a “Study without Stress” program.
